What to do with Gray

I’ve been thinking way too hard about Shepard’s death scene

What if

What if Shepard has actually stayed dead

What if the entirety of ME2 and ME3 is a kind of post-death dream she’s caught in because she can’t move on from the galaxy

Because she regrets not fighting the Reapers any more and so imagines coming back to save the galaxy

can someone please explain to me why people lust over garrus when he’s technically a bipedal bird

Because he’s Garrus.

Because he’s every Shepard’s best friend and second-in-command who will follow them into hell and back because there’s no one in this galaxy he trusts and respects more.

Because he listens and cares for Shepard and supports no matter what they did, and the means used to achieve it. Garrus understands far better than anyone else could, which doesn’t mean he doesn’t have his own opinions. In fact, he doesn’t hesitate to give his advice or opinion on any subject, while still respecting Shepard’s opinion and trusting them to do the right thing in the end.

Because he’s badass and hilarious and sweet and has a brilliant personality, while still having his own flaws and maturing steadily throughout the series, from being Shepard’s student to their equal, from a hotheaded C-Sec investigator to the terror of Omega’s gangs to a true leader, calm and level-headed and smart. He’s a real kick-ass who proved how strong he is on the field and off it, even in the way he stares down his hierarchical superiors without flinching and refusing to back down.

Because he’s also the true example of a Paragade: Compassionate to the innocent and ruthless when it comes to those he perceives as monsters. Because sometimes he has trouble to see the shades of grey in the universe and he needs Shepard to help him see the wider picture. Because even through he’s suffered so much, he learns from his mistakes and eventually accepts them, realizing that he can do better and that not every thing he did is a mistake.

Because he’s not just a great best friend, but he’s also a wonderful love interest because his love for Shepard is embedded so deeply in that friendship and trust. He makes jokes to make her feel better, puts so much effort in their relationship because he wants to make her happy. Because if Shepard chooses to end it, he’s disappointed and sad but never bitter. He respects Shepard to the last and lets her make her own choices while still staying in her shadow if ever she needs him.

Because when he finally understands that yes, he is the one Shepard wants, he finally manages to express his feelings through actions (not words, though, he’s always been terrible with words, except from when he realizes she might be running to her death without him at her side, he can’t hide the truth and tells her plainly how much she means to him). He’s always there, making sure that the war doesn’t take to much of a toll on her, comforting her, giving her moments of happiness that shine in the horror of the war. He’s loving and sweet but he never asks too much of her, never asks her to change for him, nor does he change his own ways for her. He accepts her fully, flaws and all, and tries to repair what’s broken in her when the war is pressing on her too much.

Because in the middle of all of this, he’s also the most attractive fictional character I know. Perhaps not physically (even though his voice is hotness itself and his Turian design looks gorgeous and beautiful), but in terms of personality, if I were to meet him, I’d drag him to the nearest bed because he’s brilliant and so wonderfully crafted and truly the perfect model of who I’d want to share my life with.

He might be a ‘bird’, but he’s far more than that. He’s Garrus Vakarian, he’s my favorite fictional character of all time, and a lot of people (men, women, or other) love him and feel attracted to him. It’s not because he’s alien, but it’s because his personality in itself makes us all lust for him.

Hope that answers your question.
